Certus Solutions acquires Software Traction
Certus Solutions, Australasia’s largest pure play IBM software and services company, has acquired fellow IBM cross-brand specialist Software Traction.
The acquisition is strategic for Certus as the company is entirely focused on providing full services across the complete range of IBM software brands. CEO Brian Allen said there were three main reasons behind the purchase.
“First, Software Traction is the acknowledged Rational channel leader responsible for more than 90 percent of Rational channel sales and service in the region, so the acquisition is completely consistent with Certus’ strategy of providing the greatest depth and breadth of services across all IBM software brands. Second, Software Traction has good Australian coverage, adding significantly to our geographic footprint. Third, the Software Traction sales force is experienced and highly able to service customers across the full IBM software range, so will integrate with and augment Certus’ existing sales force.”
Software Traction has around 80 customers in the Australian corporate and government sectors, while Certus’ customers comprise 400 organisations in Australia and New Zealand. Brian Allen expects the acquisition to be well-received by both Certus and Software Traction customers. “Certus customers will welcome the additional depth of expertise in Rational and Tivoli products that Software Traction adds to our business. Software Traction’s customers will likewise appreciate the benefits of a considerably larger supplier with complementary expertise to that traditionally provided by Software Traction.”
He added that Certus was on a strong growth track and the company was looking to further expand within Australia.
