IBM InfoSphere Warehouse wins in Oracle account
The Focus Information Management team successfully positioned an IBM InfoSphere Warehouse and IM toolset against Oracle Exadata last December. Working with IBM account management and brand teams, the incumbent Oracle account with more than 10 years of development in the existing Oracle data warehouse was converted to IBM.
Focus presented the IBM IM strategy to management, conducted tool familiarisation workshops with development staff and presented a competitive analysis document on IBM versus Oracle technologies. The winning strategy also included competitive benchmarking performed by IBM Labs.
The total solution included hardware, Rational and WebSphere.
Focus, now a Certus company, is currently assisting the organisation to develop new data marts in the DB2 warehouse as part of a project to deliver a new set of management reports.
All new data marts are being developed using InfoSphere DataStage. We are assisting developers to transition from Oracle PLSQL development to DataStage and implementing an Information Governance framework, including the use of InfoSphere Glossary and InfoSphere Discovery. Delivery of the first data source using the new technology occurred last month and development of the second is underway.
