Pure Play partner on the right track
KiwiRail has purchased IBM Power7 technology from Certus to run its Maximo Asset Management solution which will be implemented over the coming months.
This solution includes IBM Softek Replication software to provide "real-time" transaction replication between KiwiRail's Wellington production site and its Auckland disaster recovery site.
KiwiRail is a State Owned Enterprise with multiple business units that manage all aspects of the rail business in New Zealand - from the physical track infrastructure to freight, passenger and tourism services. KiwiRail opted for Power/AIX on Certus' recommendation to reduce operational and energy costs and provide flexibility for the Maximo installation which Certus already has underway. This Power7 sale sees the entry of another Certus line-of-business into the Maximo project.
Due to the depth and breadth of IBM expertise, Certus' pure play model provided a one-stop-shop for KiwiRail to reduce installation, sizing, performance and post support risk for this important strategic business solution.
Certus Solutions will provide on-going support for the Power environment that covers hardware, software and operations.
