Rail operations modernised with Rational and DOORS

An Italian-based international organisation, which specialises in rail traffic control and automation systems, has been awarded a large contract to provide an electronically controlled, pneumatic braking solution for a major resources conglomerate in Western Australia to further modernise its operations.

Because of the complexities of this particular project, and similar future projects, the organisation engaged Certus experts to assist them to evaluate the IBM Rational Quality Manager (RQM) solution, and its ability to integrate with IBM DOORS, that was already in place.

Certus held a two day workshop with key stakeholders to demonstrate the benefits of RQM, and our DOORS integration expertise.  Following the workshop, the organisation then requested that we work with IBM on a licence package for its consideration.

We worked closely with IBM Perth and the IBM Rational Management team in Melbourne. A compelling value proposition and quotation was presented, resulting in a $185k sale of not only RQM but also additional DOORS licences.

There are further opportunities that we hope to realise over the next 12 to 18 months - the organisation's parent company will be evaluating RQM and other technologies for potential standardisation across the organisation's wider business.
